The Role of Baffles

Baffles, as core components of a thermal system, undertake three key tasks: isolating heat, optimizing fluid dynamics, and reducing losses. Based on their different functions and installation locations, diaphragms are finely classified into front diaphragms, middle diaphragms, and rear diaphragms.

 

First, facing the high-temperature environment inside a steam turbine, exceeding 500°C, diaphragms utilize high-performance, high-temperature-resistant materials to effectively isolate heat, ensuring the unit's temperature remains within a controllable range.

 

Second, thanks to their excellent fluid dynamic performance, diaphragms precisely regulate fluid flow, balancing pressure differentials and velocity distribution among adjacent components. This not only improves the turbine's operating efficiency but also significantly reduces compressor noise and mechanical losses.

 

Furthermore, by selecting high-quality materials and advanced processing techniques, diaphragms drastically reduce leakage and frictional losses, providing a solid guarantee for the long-term operation of components and the entire unit.

 

In summary, diaphragms, with their robust durability, resistance to high temperatures and pressures, and excellent heat exchange performance, are an indispensable element in ensuring the safe and stable operation of steam turbines. In the daily operation and maintenance of steam turbines, the design, manufacturing and installation of diaphragms must be given high priority in order to maintain the long-term stable operation of the unit.
